my moving in 台中 (taichung, taiwan) (2020) is a series of 4 movement films i shot over my time in the various locations of the apartment i rented in taichung, taiwan from mar-jun 2020, first with Julianne Thomson and Teo Xiao Ting as part of @5151drama when feb (and the beginnings of the COVID-19 spread) began, then on my own. they also serve as abstract documentaries/ documentation of my then emotional state expressed in embodied movement in my physical dwelling spaces. perhaps it was the isolation brought about by the pandemic, the lonely decision to leave my familiar singapore for taiwan, or the fact that i was the only person moving in the static spaces of these videos, but this series seem to evoke a sense of trapped-ness, of i dont have enough space to even breathe.
